About Our School

The Arts and Technology Academy Public Charter School (ATA) is a Pre-K3 through 5th grade urban educational center that focuses on performing, visual, and media arts instruction, which is infused with an extraordinary use and application of modern technology. Charter schools are independently run, publicly financed, and non-selective of its students. ATA has an enrollment of approximately 600 students and heavily draws from Ward 7 of Washington, D.C.’s northeast section where we are located. For the 99 percent African American and 92 percent low-income student body, ATA has designed a program to meet the needs of these children and their parents’ dreams. By design, the school program reflects for students the strengths of their heritage and creates many ways for them to express themselves and to excel.

As an ATA student I will never give up, I will treat people fairly, I will do the right thing, I will use self control, I will be eager to learn, I will respect myself, others and the environment. Therefore, I will not do anything to keep anyone from teaching or learning by acting this way. I will be an example of PRIDE.
~ The ATA Pledge

We are all very excited that ATA is celebrating its 11th year of operation (1999-2010), which is a significant milestone for any charter school. We have continued to show great improvements over the years in both reading or math.

ATA is anchored with an extremely committed and motivated professional staff, Board of Trustees and parents, who reflect the vibrant culture of the School and one can tell that kids love coming to school to learn and their teachers love the great reward of working with them in the classrooms. All of us here at the Arts and Technology Academy work very hard to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our students and encourage them to be strong intellectuals with moral and environmentally conscious values. Art is at the heART of everything we do!

ATA MISSION STATEMENT

The Arts & Technology Academy will provide an academically challenging, technologically rich, child-centered environment, where each student develops a strong intellectual, moral, environmentally conscious, and artistic foundation.
